Hello
It is about the same in Finland. Mustang has not been "type approved" in EU for years. About type approval see
http://europa.eu.int/comm/enterprise/au ... 6_cee.html
http://www.nsai.ie/Certification_Servic ... hicle.html
Member countries can provide "single car" approvals as in Germany. So, in Germany a new Mustang can be registered. However, some backward czarist tradition countries like Finland will not allow single car registrations. There was a agreement of US spec being accepted but that expired some time in 1996 or so. 1995 Mustang can be registered in Finland but 1997 Mustang not. Vee8, please correct if misunderstood.
Only way to register a new Mustang currently in Finland is to live abroad and import the car as "personal belongings".
Living in hope that Ford would have type approval process and decide to import Mustang to EU. So pop in your nearest Ford dealer and ask about Mustang. Ford should realize what huge market there is Europe for cheap and cheerful car like Mustang, not to mention imago boost.

Arto65FB allready mentioned correctly most details.
Best thing to do, is apply some pressure to european Ford.
However, even if Ford decides to sell Mustang in europe, I'm afraid price will still be doubled compared with states.

You mean differences between european and US vehicles? Mostly lights, windows have different regulations, exhaust specs, and collision testing is different. So though car can quite easily be tested (by manufacturer) to conform both (EU and US FMVSS) standards, test methods and details tested are very different. Is there some sort of single vehicle approval, under which you can import car for personal use, in Latvia?
